Hi
I would agree with the article and the stats in the principle but am not so convinced having having done further investigations. I think that MVS would be a major change to Search, as it has great advantages in a non-office situation: no keyboard required, no more city guides aso.
Back to reality, if you use Google Goggles, you need to dowload an App, and then try not to suffer from Alzeihmer as it's really difficult not to move during the double scanning (letft to right and reverse)!! It works fine with books, logos, but I haven"t succeeded to something else.
The US stats also says that 50% of the QR use are at home and on magazine/newspaper!? Certainly not where QR was supposed to add value. I think that QR is still an emerging tech, which requires creativity, like in the VW video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax346AAbXmk&feature=player_embedded#!

Interesting post. I especially like this sentence: "The Holy Grail for mobile will be when the camera replaces the keyboard and we can just point at anything to get more content." It will be an interesting day when that happens.

Thanks for the comment! We'll take a look at your solution and be in touch if it's a good fit for us in the future.

Great article. Also, MVS can be applied to images and creatives that already exists. It's easy and there's no need to recreate everything with a code that takes up space. There are many instances where MVS is a better fit than QR but they can definitely coexist to provide the user with the best experience. We provide a MVS solution called pixlinQ, so if you want to learn more contact us.
Our VP of marketing also recently wrote a piece about MVS/ best ways to create print to mobile experiences- so check it out: http://www.gomonews.com/guest-post-from-yanna-sigenlaub-vice-president-of-marketing-for-ltu-the-battle-of-print-to-mobile/
